Needs attention: your dashboard's to-fix list
Updated Oct 9, 2026
For studio ownersThe top of your Dashboard is Needs attention: the things in your studio that are quietly wrong and will not fix themselves — a student enrolled with nothing billing for them, an invoice whose email never went out, a lesson from last week nobody marked. Encore works these out from your records each time the page loads; there is nothing to set up.
What it checks
Enrolled, no recurring charge — an enrolled student with nothing billing for them.
Charge running after enrollment ended — a recurring charge whose enrollment is over.
Authorized but not on autopay — the family agreed to automatic payments, but their monthly charges still email an invoice.
Autopay stopped or refused — a charge was not taken in the last 30 days, and nothing has succeeded since.
Opted out of autopay — the family turned automatic payments off in the last 30 days, and will pay by invoice.
Invoice overdue — open and past its due date, largest balance first.
Invoice email not sent — issued, but its pay-link email did not go out. Open the invoice and use Copy under Payment link to send it yourself.
Family with no email address — invoices and notices cannot reach them.
Waiting for a teacher — an open enrollment with no teacher.
Enrolled, no weekly lesson — enrolled, but nothing on the calendar.
Attendance not marked — lessons more than two days ago still waiting to be marked.
Enrolled twice on one instrument — two live enrollments for the same student and instrument.
Teacher not invited to the portal — a teacher with no portal login and no invitation yet. Their page has Send invitation.
Teacher invite not accepted — invited, but they have not accepted yet. The name says how long ago the invitation went out; their page has Re-send invitation.
Teacher with no availability — no teaching hours set, whether or not they teach anyone yet. Add them under Availability & routing on their page.
Only the checks that find something are shown. When nothing does, the panel simply says Nothing needs attention. Archived teachers are never listed.
Folding the panel away
Click the Needs attention heading to fold the whole panel down to one line, and click it again to open it. Folded, the line shows how many items are still open and turns red while there is at least one. Encore remembers your choice in this browser.
Each name is a link to the fix
Under each check are the names it found — the family, the student, the invoice. Click one and you land on the page where it gets fixed: the family's page to set up billing, the student's page to assign a teacher, the day on the calendar to mark attendance. Long lists fold after the first eight names.
Snoozing
Some items are fine as they are — a family you have agreed will pay by hand, a student between teachers on purpose. Press the × on a name to snooze it for 30 days. A snooze is undone straight away with Undo, and the panel counts how many items are snoozed so they are never forgotten entirely.
A snoozed item comes back after 30 days — or sooner, the moment what it is about changes. Snoozing an overdue invoice hides that balance, not the next one.
A snooze is for the whole studio: when you or a manager snoozes something, it is hidden for everyone.
Managers
A manager sees only the checks their sections cover. The money checks need Documents; the autopay ones and the missing recurring charge need People as well; attendance needs Scheduling; a teacher with no availability needs People and Scheduling, because saving teaching hours is a Scheduling change; and the rest need People.
